Like many of you, we look forward to the short season of the delicious native Pawpaw fruit that grows right here in Harford County, Maryland!
This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy them in the best way possible, a limited, special batch of Broom’s Bloom Ice Cream. This unique Broom’s Bloom flavor will only be available while supplies last. It is being made from real Paw Paw fruit grown and just picked by Deep Run Pawpaw Orchard. You won’t want to miss this opportunity because the fruit is only ripe for a few weeks each year. This event has been an amazing success thanks to all of you and our partners, so for the 6th Annual Pawpaw Celebration we’ll continue to make it even better than before!
To make the day even more special, from 12:00 pm-6:00 pm, or while supplies last, we will have lots of Pawpaw related items available such as a limited selection of whole fruit for purchase to take home and try / plant seeds, stickers featuring the local butterfly that uses the Paw Paw tree as its host- the Zebra Swallowtail, special Pawpaw related art prints, Pawpaw jewelry, free coloring book pages for kids, and young Pawpaw trees you can buy and plant in your own backyard from Kollar Nursery.
As with last year, we will also offer a limited supply of Paw Paw Lemonade bottles made by Western Maryland Lemonade, Pawpaw Jam, Paw Paw baked goods, plus we might have a few new surprises! From 2-4pm we will have a live bluegrass band!Of course there is also a great selection of tasty food items with many local ingredients and all of Broom’s Bloom’s other famous ice cream flavors.
The following day, September 28th, we will be hosting a Pawpaw hike at the Susquehannock Wildlife Conservation Center from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Event details can be found using the link below.
