I sit back and reminisce of the crackling fire, the cool night air tickling my nose with the faint scents of burning oak, and the silent snowy walks with my trusty dog. Old Man Winter just can’t make up his mind as he keeps wandering around aimlessly from week to week, peeking in and out of the shadows. I can feel it though, the signs of spring are a comin’.

The poetic chirp of the Spring Peeper disrupts the silence that I’ve been accustomed to over the past few months, each day the intensity grows. A Painted Turtle creeps up on an old log to catch some rays of sun, an Eastern Wild Turkey sounds off in the distance, and the resident geese return to their old haunts. Ahhh…how I love the spring, the emergence of new life and the chaotic sounds of nature. It’s the time to start thinking about that paddle, the fishing pole, a bike ride, or a long hike. You never know what you’re going to encounter out there on the water or trail, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll find the peace and tranquility that you’ve been waiting for all winter long. Oh…and don’t forget your camera!
