With our special host – professional creek snorkeler\, author\, and Executive Director at NorthBay Adventure\, Keith Williams\, we will put on goggles and breathe through snorkels as we explore the underwater world of wildlife in a creek\, a view that few people have ever experienced!\n\n\n\n\n\nWe will meet in the gravel parking lot to the north of the Churchville Testing Area at the corner of Route 136 and Harmony Church Road\, Churchville\, Maryland.\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? Contact via email contact@suskywildlife.org or phone 443-333-9453.\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails:\n\n\n* Suggested donation of $10 per person\, additional donations welcome!  Price includes use of one set of goggles and a snorkel.\n\n\n* Participation is limited due to space contraints and available sets of goggles / snorkels. First come first served (see link for purchase)\n\n\n* All ages\, those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult\n\n\n* Participants must be able to swim\, the water will be fairly shallow but deeper pockets may exist and the creek does have a swift current in certain areas\n\n\n* Shoes are strongly recommended since rocks and possible debris can be sharp or slippery- old sneakers\, water shoes\, or sandles that can be secured (flip flops not ideal).\n\n\n* Waterproof cameras or GoPros will give you some fun photos and video to bring home. There is a Wawa and Royal Farm store approximately 5 minutes north on Route 1 and 136.\n\n\n\n\n\n*** Please note that a rain date will be announced should we cancel it with 9/11 being a possible selection. DESCRIPTION:**Event Moved from April 9th to April 16th due to weather**  Susquehannock Wildlife Society\, a non-profit conservation/education/rescue-rehabilitation organization based in Harford County\, will celebrate its 5th anniversary on April 16 with an open house and slate of activities at the site of its future wildlife center located at 1725 Trappe Church Road in Darlington\, Maryland.  The wildlife center\, currently under renovation\, is located on the newly established 20-acre Hopkins Branch Wildlife Management Area\, which will only be open to the public from 1pm‑5pm during this very limited event. The inaugural hike will take visitors along a stream\, past a pond\, across a meadow\, and through the woods – with breathtaking views of the historic village of Darlington and Deer Creek valley. At the Wildlife Baby Shower\, participants will learn more about the rescue and care of orphaned and distressed baby wildlife\, play wildlife-themed baby shower games\, and can donate items that will ensure superb quality of care for this year’s wild babies. \nAlthough the facility is still under renovation\, visitors can enter the future wildlife center to get a first peek at it how it looks and share the vision of what it will become – a first-of-its-kind hub for wildlife education\, research\, and rehabilitation in northern Maryland\, aimed at conserving Maryland’s native wildlife species for the good of the environment and to maintain them for many generations to enjoy. Patrons of the open house can also enjoy birthday cake and special guest wildlife ambassadors as the organization celebrates its 5th year of protecting local wildlife. \n\n\n– FREE\, ALL AGES!\n** While there is no charge to attend this event\, donations are accepted and encouraged!**\n– Specific event times and further details to be published at a later date. SUMMARY:Donate to help your local wildlife this Giving Tuesday!
DESCRIPTION:#GivingTuesday is day where we are reminded to help out those in need and organizations that enrich the community. As a small\, volunteer-run non-profit we rely on your generous donations to fund everything we do. We do a lot for the size of our group and put in the hard work ourselves alongside our volunteers. As you might have heard\, we are in the process of renovating a house and barn into a unique center for education\, research\, and rehabilitation. There are a lot of costs to doing this from construction\, building museum-grade displays\, utilities\, maintenance equipment\, animal housing\, educational events\, and supplies to keep rescuing and researching while we are doing everything else. With us each tax-deductible donation\, no matter how small\, goes a long way! We are so grateful for your support!

It’s about 3.5 miles each way if we go all the way to the dam but folks are free to come and go as they please. Along the way we will obverse the wildlife and habitat that borders the western shore of the Susquehanna River. Bring your cameras\, water\, a snack\, and hiking boots. Be prepared to see lots of bald eagles! \nMeeting address for your GPS is the parking area found at:\n698 Stafford Rd\, Havre de Grace\, MD 21078 \nTrip leader / Master Naturalist – Scott McDaniel 443-340-7980\nQuestions? SUMMARY:The Highway to Hellbenders - Using DNA to detect the presence of a rare salamander in MD
DESCRIPTION:Wondering why we’ve been jumping in rivers and taking water samples lately? Join us at Anita C. Leight Estuary Center as we talk about our eDNA project with the Eastern hellbender as part of their speaker series. The hellbender\, the largest salamander in the US\, could still be found in northeast Maryland despite not being seen for many years\, and we’re using a new technique with eDNA to try and track it down while learning about the technique’s role in conservation biology. Be sure to stop by and learn more! \nSee the Estuary Center website for more details: http://www.otterpointcreek.org/events/details/1456/
