Phoenix Wildlife Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1992 to provide temporary care to injured, sick and displaced wildlife with the goal of returning healthy animals to appropriate habitats in the wild. Wildlife rehabilitators are increasingly recognized as a valuable resource to educate the public about environmental issues and stewardship. Wildlife rehabilitators have the answers to the questions regarding caring for baby birds and mammals. They can help determine if an animal needs your help; they know the signs to look for. Wildlife rehabilitators are licensed professionals.
Wild animals belong wild and free; help us keep them that way!

Maryland Wood Duck Initiative’s mission is to enhance Maryland’s Wood Duck population and to generate a greater appreciation of the wetland habitats in which they live by advocating and demonstrating a “Best Practices” approach in artificial nest box programs. Educational and other youth oriented activities which complement the “Total Wetland Experience” are increasingly being incorporated into its projects.

The Mid-Atlantic Turtle & Tortoise Society, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the responsible herpetoculture of turtles and tortoises, promoting and supporting the study of chelonian natural history, and conserving Mid-Atlantic chelonian species and habitat. They are an all-volunteer organization founded in February, 1997, and are directed by concerned hobbyists and professionals who saw a need to reach out to the public and improve the conditions under which captive chelonians are kept and try to protect local species and their habitats. While there are other respected herpetological organizations in the area (most members are in the Baltimore -Washington- Northern Va. area, though more than twenty states are now represented), MATTS is the only one dedicated exclusively to turtles and tortoises.
